A La Sante

This unique restaurant is the definition of a ‘hidden gem’ – difficult to find, intimate ambience and doubles up as an art gallery. Its also a pioneer in the culinary scene of Tirana, introducing the concept of superfoods to the eager locals.

The venue has two rooms indoors and a small outdoor terrace with around 15-20 tables overall. The walls are adorned with artwork for sale, with the restaurant also doubling as an art gallery. The dim lighting and comfortable furniture make dining relaxing.

Featuring a range of healthy items including excellent salads, quinoa and seafood are the highlight of the menu here. The pasta, risottos and steaks are also delicious. Having eaten here over 50 times, we can safely say that we have tried a large portion of the menu and have always been satisfied. The cuisine is of a modern European style. Our most recommended dishes are the prawns (shrimp) in cognac sauce, the A La Sante salad, the salmon with mango saffron curry and the risotto with salmon and asparagus. Be sure to find out their specials, too!

A La Sante delivers their food with perfect presentation. At first, you might think the portion sizes are quite small. However, over time we have come to learn that the chef has determined serving sizes like an artform, as you always feel perfectly satisfied upon finishing your meal – not hungry, not to full! Prices are reasonable with pastas and risottos ranging around 500-700 lek (€5-6) and mains around 1000 lek (€8).

Wines offered include mainly Italian and French varietals. Bottle prices vary. Glasses of house wine cost 350 lek (€2,50).

When it comes to service, A La Sante is exceptional. Well-presented staff greet you warmly and are happy to educate you further about the menu (which is offered in Albanian, English and Italian). The overall experience at A La Sante is classy and chic, special enough for a romantic evening, yet casual enough for a business lunch.
